The micro-climate determines how we feel and function. A comfortable climate in an airplane is more than clean, ventilated air, temperature control, noise reduction and pressurization. It also includes appropriate humidity level.
A business class cabin is extremely dry; worse than any place on Earth. Although both the Boeing 787 and the A350 feature better climate conditions with passive humidity increase, the improvement is far from good enough and the cabin air remains far too dry.
Therefore Airbus and Boeing in their latest widebody models (A350 and 777X) have included humidification as catalogue option for the First Class and Business Class cabin. Passengers no longer need to be exposed to Worl’s most dehydrating climate when selecting the most premium experience.
