Stockholm-Arlanda, Sep 15, 2010, – The Airbus A380’s premiere today at Stockholm-Arlanda marks another first for Lufthansa and the Swedish aerospace technology company CTT Systems.

The two companies have worked together with Airbus to incorporate CTT’s cabin humidification system Cair™ in Lufthansa’s brand new First Class on board the A380. Lufthansa is the first global airline to offer a higher relative cabin humidity of around 25% on board the A380, increasing the comfort and well-being of passengers. The higher humidity level improves sleep, reduces jet-lag and fatigue and alleviates dehydration of the eyes, skin, mouth and nose linings.  Furthermore, on-board food and drink simply taste better.

“Lufthansa has developed one of the most sophisticated First Class cabins in the sky. It is quiet, comfortable and now, thanks to Swedish technology, even the air is more enjoyable”, said Harro Julius Petersen, Lufthansa General Manager for Scandinavia, Finland and the Baltics, after landing today at Arlanda with the A380. “The knowledge and experience of the Nyköping experts has helped us to set new standards on board and the first customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive”.

“We have enjoyed an excellent working relationship with Lufthansa and Airbus during the development and installation of this exciting new comfort and well-being system on the A380. Dryness in aircraft cabins and the negative effects on the human body is a known fact amongst airlines and frequent travellers. Finally there is a solution and we are proud that Lufthansa is the first airline offering this in its new A380 first class cabin,” says Torbjörn Johansson, President of CTT Systems. ”We have been providing the Cair™ system on board large VIP aircraft for several years and it has been highly appreciated. With the introduction of Cair™ on Lufthansa’s A380, we are confident that the airline’s passengers will appreciate the benefits of the system in the same way as VIP aircraft customers do,” continues Torbjörn Johansson.

The Cair™ system is based on evaporative cooling technology. The dual-purpose system increases cabin humidity to 20-25% relative humidity, compared to 5-10% otherwise in a first class environment due to the few number of passengers in the premium sections, for greater comfort and include the Zonal Drying™ System to counter condensation problems.

CTT’s Zonal Drying™ System has been selected as basic equipment for the new B787 “Dreamliner” and CTT’s humidifiers are options in crew rest compartments and on flight deck. The A380 offers CTT’s humidifiers as option in crew rest compartments. CTT will also supply the Zonal Drying™ system and the Cair™ system for the A350 aircraft, as options. CTT is furthermore the market leader in supplying cabin humidification systems for large VIP aircraft.
