Better working climate
Arriving in good shape is a prime concern for anyone travels by air and dry air in the cabin and crew rest compartments remain a concern for the Flight Crew, especially on long haul flights.
The dry air
In addition to the many benefits balanced air humidity constitutes in terms of economy, environment, aircraft and safety, it also has significance for the wellbeing, energy and health of the personnel.
The Crew Humidifiers have been created to enhance the Flight Crews' wellbeing by humidifying the dry Flight Deck and Crew rest compartments. Normally the relative indoor humidity in homes and offices is between 50-60%. In an aircraft this drops to 5-15%. This is because half of the air is drawn in by the engines at a height of around 10,000 m where the air is extremely dry.
So the longer the flight continues, the drier the air becomes and the more evident the symptoms become for the crew. When people are subjected to air humidity lower than 20% they experience a series of different problems. For example sleep disorders, dry eyes, tiredness, dehydration of the skin and mucous membranes.
Other discomforts include the need to remove contact lenses, increased likelihood of colds, a greater risk of viral infections, as well as problems with dry skin and allergies. This is particularly wearing for the Crew, who are constantly subjected to the dry air. Increasingly longer flights, now with durations up to 18 hours, only aggravate the symptoms.
Feel better
The Crew Humidifiers humidifies the dry Flight Deck and the Crew rest compartments and alleviates all of the aforementioned problems substantially.
The Crew gain more strength and energy and do not feel as tired during their work onboard, or after the flight. It is scientifically proven (download report) that the Crew feel better with an air humidifier on board. | |
